Day 1

Santa Clara, CA to Hesperia, CA
379.8 miles
7 hours 57 minutes
Highest Temp: 102

We had a great first day of our road trip! We began the trip at 12:24pm after making a trip back home because I forgot my sunglasses. It isn't a road trip unless you forget something, right? About 30 minutes into the drive I got a sudden craving for In-N-Out so we stopped at one in Gilroy, CA. I haven't been in years, and it was delicious!

I started off driving and got tired after about 3 hours, so my mom took over. Driving this time was a lot more enjoyable than driving from Portland to home because I could see out the back window. I packed about 5 boxes that my dad will ship to me at the last hotel we're staying at in Chapel Hill.

We spent the entire car ride listening to country music, signing along, and enjoying the scenery. We had the AC on for most of the trip because it was quite hot. The highest temperature was 102. Below are pictures from our beautiful drive.

After stopping at Starbucks in Bakersfield, CA and Rubio's Mexican Grill in Adelanto, CA we finally arrived in Hesperia, CA. I am exhausted. We are currently watching the USA women's beach volleyball team kick butt. We will relax for the rest of the night because we have an early start tomorrow morning (around 7am) so we can arrive at Zion National Park in Washington, Utah with enough time to take pictures of the beautiful scenery and go on hike.
